This is the one I find attractive.
I thought that was Maggie Gyllenhall for a second.
Are you sure it ISN’T Maggie Gyllenhall?
Nuclear Mushroom Cloud of Steel by Subodh Gupta
Made as a protest against the launching of potentially nuclear rockets, Gupta created this massive mushroom cloud out of pots, pans, and kitchen utensils. Though keeping with the kitchen theme, I’d like to point out that this fate is easily avoidable by hiding in the refrigerator, Indiana Jones-style.

I want to stand in front of this posing as if I’m using my incredible magnetic powers to create this mushroom cloud of metallic doom.

isn’t Etta kind of like Nina’s granddaughter? shouldn’t she have been, like, slightly nicer?

I’m an episode or two behind now - WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT LAST ONE FROM?
I’ve never seen that one before. I wonder if it’s from the episode coming this week. Given the teaser for the episode it’s likely.

Have never heard an argument against that doesn’t fall back on a religious belief or a complete ignorance of the history of the institution.

Is like saying:
Just because I don’t interracial marriage doesn’t mean I’m a bad person.
I don’t agree with this.
There are lots of really decent, good people who don’t support gay marriage. Many of those people might change their minds about it if it applied to someone in their life or if someone spent some time talking to them about it in a way that wasn’t judgmental, preachy, or chock full of ultimatium-y duality.
All stuff like this does is focus on the people who you know aren’t going to change at the expense of people who just need some more time.
For example, I work with people who ten years ago would have been horrified at the idea of gays being allowed to be married and most of those people are looking forward to going to Heidi and Kate’s wedding this fall.
It’s taken some of them a long time to see that the inequality of our society really hurts people and isn’t just about a principle. When Heidi was telling us that even though she and Kate will be legally married she’ll have to pay federal income tax on Kate’s health benefits because of DOMA everyone was shocked and angry. Because they realized that they didn’t have to pay income tax on their spouse’s benefits. So why should it be different for Heidi and Kate? For them it was all about the issue at hand, for me it was an amazing moment seeing people who had told me point blank that gays had no right to even think about marrying actually angry at the inequality they’d previously championed.
When I think of how much change has happened in my life I’m amazed and very hopeful for the future. But everything we’ve gained has been because of 50 years of work. A little patience, a little understanding, and a lot of determination do more good than “burn” statements and us vs. them.

please watch this and don’t click “like”, click “reblog”.
I’m excited that this video has been reblogged over 2,000 times, and I’m really bummed that only 3 of my actual friends have reblogged it. Maybe it’s because I posted it late last night, so I’m putting it out there again.
I’m talking specifically to my friends and the people who follow me that haven’t reblogged this. Please watch. It’s important. Don’t just hit “like”. Pass it on. I’ll get back to posting my usual stupid, goofy pics and videos later, but for now, this is more important.
and for those of you who have watched and passed it on, thank you!
Jokes later.
ah god i know this is gonna be an unpopular thing to say but i don’t care
being upset with someone because of the privilege they’re born with is really fucking stupid
it sucks that we’re not all born into healthy families with millions of dollars and perfect bodies and whatever but life is not fair
and it may be morbid but the saying “life’s not fair and then you die” is completely true
it does no use to complain about what other people have and try to cripple them somehow
make the best of what your lot in life is
and now cue a bunch of angry anonymous folks saying that i have no right to talk because i’m a straight white male from an upper middle class home
You have every right in the world (or at least the country) to talk. And there is a certain level of merit to what you say. Not universal merit, but a certain level of merit.
Of course, the people who might have the most to say about your perceptions and philosophy probably don’t have access to tumblr…or the internet in general. Or, in some cases, food or shelter.
Life does indeed often suck and we all inevitably die. But it’s very easy to say “make the best of what your lot in life is” when you don’t spend most of your waking hours trying to figure out a way to eat. Or how you’re going to keep your kids warm and safe that night.

In the lower left picture it looks like his hair is trying to escape his head in the back. I can’t stop looking at it waiting for it to fly away!
